PostHeaderIcon Cricut crafting joy

by Mark Cartis

If you love arts and crafts then you need a Cricut Expression! It is a wonderful cutting machine that can be used for a wide variety of projects. It can cut paper or vinyl and is the crafting tool all arts and crafters should have.

Even for those few people left who do not own a computer this machine can meet your needs. It does have the appearance of a printer but in actual fact works completely independently from a computer. The cartridges that work with it have font or shape designs on them. You decide which letter or shape you want, what size and on paper or vinyl and then the machine does the rest.

All you do is decide what you want and the Cricut will cut it for you. When you purchase it, it comes with two cartridges (one font and one shape) and a cutting mat. When you want to add to your cartridge collection they cost about $35. Do not worry about being limited by the cartridge designs ” there are 78 and will probably be more still in the future.

As stated, it does not need a computer to work. However it is an advantage should you have one, as there is some software called Cricut Design Studio which has electronic font on which you can plan out what you want. It then sends this to the Cricut which will then cut out what you just designed on your computer. Other great products that go with the machine are a starter kit, different types of paper and vinyl, and more.

Perhaps one of the more interesting extras you can buy is the Jukebox. Instead of having to swap out cartridges when you want to swap from font to shape, the jukebox can take up to six cartridges at once! You can connect three Jukeboxes to the machine giving you the possibility of 18 cartridges. There is no doubt the Cricut is a fantastic crafting tool. Martha Stuart wannabes, teachers, children, expert and beginner crafters, all should have one!

PostHeaderIcon How to Grow Grapes

by Daniel Country

It is extremely difficult to be dictatorial about pruning for I had seen large numbers of vastly differing methods practised-and most of them with success!

Therefore, with the ordinary outdoor varieties, all one has to do is to make sure that the soil doesn’t lack in moisture and humus, and once again we gladly accept the straw mulching system as advised for blackcurrants and gooseberries. Clean straw, free from such weeds as clocks and thistles, is put down all over the ground where the vines are growing, to the depth of about 8 inches when trodden down.

The object now is to let this cane produce young laterals on which the fruit will be borne. These laterals will be tied to the wires provided and will be pruned in the summer once a month or so to keep them under control. This is usually known as stopping.

Meanwhile a strong growth will be developing froth the base of the vine rod that was cut back hard in January. This should be allowed to grow upright and should be tied to the stake or wires. Any side growths that develop will be pruned back to one leaf, and if any flower trusses are seen, these will be pinched up.

In all cases it is most important to spread the roots out evenly and only to plant them about 4 inches below the surface of the soil. The earth must he trodden in firmly-this is important and it does mean, therefore, that one can only plant when the soil is not too sticky. After the planting, when the soil is raked down level, the bone meal is applied.

Some people allow two canes to develop each year: they cut one back hard and they train the other one round. This does ensure a stronger growth and the original bearing rod can then be cut right the way back, so as to prevent it growing again.

PostHeaderIcon Creativity thoughts for youngsters - Keep it simple-minded

by Ethan O. Tanner

Kids love to do craft projects, there is no doubt about it. But I think children, especially younger children like to have their projects less structured. A good strategy is to keep it simple and fun. I totally think this is true because they can be more creative and have more fun that way.

Do not understand me wrongly, I arrive at craftiness thoughts for my youngsters and we enjoy many hours of fun with them, only she appears to experience more enjoyment making her personal craftiness thoughts. It’s beneficial to allow the imaginative juices flow in the youth minds.

A couple of years back I shopped at our local goodwill store and purchased alot of craftiness supplies for really small amount of money. I purchased beads, leather, pipe cleaners, glitter, stickers, feathers, yarn, lace, buttons, and simply a ton of crafty typeitems. I put it all in a bigger box with some glue and glue sticks. This is how my girls Creativity package came into being.

We have since added stickers, markers, cotton balls, sequins, and other stuff we find. I bought a big tablet of thick paper and thus her “scrapbook” came into existence. She loves to get it out and create different pages of ideas and creations. She cuts pictures out of magazines and adds them to it as well.

Occasionally she simply arrives at her own craftiness plans from the textiles rather than making her “scrapbooking” and she enjoys herself greatly. The single problem to her scrapbooking is occasionally she utilises more glue and we must wait for it to dry out prior to turning the page and progress to her succeeding creative activity.

Therefore do not always think structure when it comes to craft ideas for younger children. You and they’ll probably have a good deal more fun if you allow their imagination run the project. After all it is their creation so there’s no wrong or right way to do it. Children are less likely to become frustrated if they can’t make their creations appear just like they are suppose to as well.

PostHeaderIcon Finding Topics for a Laptop Blog

One of my challenges lately has been coming up with topics for my laptops blog.  You see, I wanted my site to stick out and not be the same as the rest of the other computer related blogs that are just rehashing old stuff.

I had come up with some good topics that really had not been covered, but I quickly ran out of steam.  It could be that the blog isn’t my main blog, but just one that is on the side.  I was just about to give up, when a friend of mine suggested that I could write a review about some of the software that I had been using.

I decided to write up a SpyHunter review, as SpyHunter is the current anti-spyware software package that I am currently using.  I haven’t found that anyone really had a good review of it online, so I knew that it would be a great opportunity.

I think for awhile here, when I am stuck on finding a topic to write about, I think I will do reviews - it is at least something that I know well and can let me stand out from the crowd.

PostHeaderIcon All I Want for Christmas

When my fifteen year old daughter asked for LASIK surgery for her Christmas present, I nearly fell off my chair. Who ever heard of someone wanting an operation for a gift? When I saw that she was serious about it, I decided to at least sit and hear her out.

She made some very valid points and I decided it would not hurt to take her in and talk to a professional about it. I had my doubts that they would do it on someone so young. Much to my surprise, kids her age make up almost a quarter of the patients. The surgeon suggested that we go with LASIK Wavefront.

When I found out the LASIK surgery cost, I knew it was more than we would spend on her for the next five Christmas presents. I did, however agree to pay for half of it and said if she came up with the other half, we would do it. She has worked very hard for her new eyes, but she is thrilled not to wear glasses anymore.

PostHeaderIcon Pressure Washing is the Answer

I have been looking online for the best way to do some house washing.  I mean, since it rained and then blew dust all over, my house has looked disgusting.  Even though I am not to stuck on keeping up appearances, I think that there should be a minimum level of cleanliness that I should display, and my house just isn’t doing it.

So, I decided to look online for the best way to clean my house and driveway.  When I searched for concrete cleaning, I came across a firm that specialized in pressure washing and could clean everything that I needed.

I had not thought about a pressure washer before, but I knew that my little garden hose wouldn’t do what I needed, so I have decided to give them a call on Monday and get them to come out here and wash everything.

When that is all done, I will feel much better - right now, it is just too dirty.

PostHeaderIcon The Secret to a Good Life

Now, I know the media tells us that the way to get a good life is go to school, get a good career, and advance through your organization.  Following this route is supposed to give you the perfect life, one full of joy and all the things you want.

I don’t agree at all.

In fact, I believe that you get what you most desire.  If you wish to struggle through life, you will.  If you decide that you want to live a life full of fun and satisfaction, that is what you will get out of it as well.

The outcome of your life all hinges on the Law of Attraction - you will get what you most desire out of life.  In fact, if you made a conscious decision to change just one thing in your life, write it down, and do that every day, it will become a reality.  Once you realize this amazing power, you can change all aspects of your life to have the life that you truly desire.

I’m serious - give it a try and you will see what I mean.

PostHeaderIcon Wonderful Wedding Limousine

I have been to a few weddings recently, but the only vehicle that the newlyweds drove was their own vehicles decorated up.  For most people, that is okay, but for my wife and I, that is not the route that we took.

You see, we wanted the whole day to be a memorable experience - from the place by the river that we had the ceremony, to the exquisite food that we had at the reception.  We were originally going to use our own car for the wedding festivities, until the thought came to us: what about renting a limousine?

We both agreed that it was a good idea, so we contacted a Philadelphia limousine service, and booked one just a week before the big day.  It was the best choice that we made, as our driving around was luxurious - the perfect start for our marriage.

PostHeaderIcon Simple Corporate Promotion Strategy

Sometimes the simplest method can be the best.  I mean, if you are trying to get your name out, why go to the trouble of creating a large, national advertising campaign when something as simple as using promotional products would be more effective?

Some great items that you can use as promotional items can be as simple as pens (very inexpensive and viral in nature) as well as mugs, USB flash drives, and clothing.  These not only provide value to your customers, but spreads your name as well.

In fact, one of the greatest benefits of this type of advertising is the fact that it gets the company name out in the world, outside of the direct reach of the company.  For example, if I give a customer a pen, and he gives it to someone that isn’t our customer, we have gone beyond our direct reach, and may end up with a new customer.

One of the more overlooked ways to promote your brand is through corporate gifts.  Ideas such as giving to the community through donations, or even Christmas gifts can be excellent ways to promote your corporation and its’ brand.
