Cigar Tasting- Oliva Cigars
Cigars are status symbols. We often see cigars in Italian and Spanish gang films being puffed by Dons and rich gang lords. A cigar is also a contemporary of a more inexpensive and common/ commercialized cigarette. Cigars are generally handmade (at least most better tasting and more expensive examples are). They are created by fermenting tobacco leaves until it reached the desired stage.
Cigars grow extensively in places such as: Brazil, Philippines, Mexico and Cuba. Cigar manufacturing has an interesting history anecdote to tell. During the past, cigar manufacturer owners employ the services of a lector or a reader to entertain workers as they work. The definition for cigar basically states that it is a a rolled bundle of tobacco leaves which is ignited when smoked. Fermented tobaccos are used in cigar manufacturing. Nowadays, modern forms of entertainment are now used such as built in piped music or audio books. This will help cigar workers work on a good mood.
As opposed to famous beliefs the cigar wrapper is a leaf not a paper wrapper. It is used to describe the overall flavor and aroma of the cigar and its overall look based on its color. Cigar wrappers are manufactured by extra care as they tend to carry the image of the cigar itself. Some cigar wrappers are tended with polishers so as to give it a beautiful glossy effect. cigar leaves are derived from the widest leaf of the tobacco plant.
Fillers are what you call the rolled up tobacco leaves that composed of the inside of the tobacco. They sometimes contain the same leaf from a tobacco tree although some manufacturers create blends from other tobacco leaves. There are numerous tobacco species whose leaves can be used to create tobacco.
Contrary to previous beliefs, cigars are really not safer alternatives to cigarettes. They just differ from the type of sickness you can achieve. Cigarettes usually causes lung cancer while cigars target the head and neck.
A cigar tasting is treated in the same manner as wine and cheese tasting- a social event in some places. Visit the Cigar Tasting (featuring Oliva Cigars) in Fairfield, Ohio for more details.
Get Creative With Pinhole Cameras And Use Up All That Old Film
If you used to shoot film and made the switch to digital at some point, chances are you still have leftover film lying about. I had half a fridge door full of all kinds of film, some expired, some on the verge, and decided I needed to do something fun with it.
April 26 is Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day, so I thought we’d talk about pinhole cameras in this article.
Pinhole photography is nothing new – the basic optical principles are mentioned in 5th century BC texts from China, and the first documented photos taken with a pinhole camera are from the mid-1800s. You can make a pinhole camera from just about anything, and people do, but in most cases, you have to load and unload the film in total darkness, which can be tricky. If you do want to give pinhole photography a try, but prefer not to hide in a closet to put the film in, check out these cameras:
Pinhole Blender Cameras The film cameras from Pinhole Blender look like cookie and tea tins (with 2 dials on top) and come in small, medium and large format (35mm, 120 and 4×5). The small and medium format cameras can be loaded in daylight, but the 4×5 has to be done in total darkness. The small and medium format cameras come in two configurations: with one or three pinholes and the large format with three or six. Fun, easy to use and inexpensive ($20-$80), these are great cameras for those who want to try their hand at pinhole photography.
Holga The plastic, inexpensive Holga cameras first saw the light of day in Hong Kong in 1982, and quickly gained an almost cult-like status among photographers all over the world. The Holga pinhole cameras come in two sizes: small and medium format (for 35mm and 120 film). The 35mm version has an aperture of f/175, the medium format f/192. Both have only one shutter speed – B – which stands for Bulb and means that the shutter stays open for however long you press the shutter. Thankfully, they have standard cable release and tripod threads and come with (optional) cable releases, both of which are essential to shooting with these cameras. You advance the film at your own whim – make panoramas, double (or triple) exposures, or shoot “normal” one-frame images – it’s up to you. The deluxe package, which includes either camera, 10 rolls of film and a cable release is $100.
Pinhole Resource’s Hexomniscope For a truly unique pinhole experience, check out the Hexomniscope from Pinhole Resource. This 6-pinhole, 6-shutter, round camera uses 120 film and produces 6 overlapping 60 degree images. The shutters are individually operated, but have a single release. At $1,590, it’s not cheap, but the results are stunning.
Digital Pinhole SLR All you need to use your digital SLR for pinhole photography is an extra lens cap and a drill. Find the exact center of the lens cap and drill, from inside the cap out, as tiny a hole as you possibly can. Use the lens cap instead of a lens and voila! Pinhole camera.
So What Is Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day? It’s a worldwide annual event, held on the last Sunday in April, to encourage people to take some time off from technology and get back to basics for a day. You can use any pinhole camera (homemade is fine) but you have to take the pictures on that particular day (April 26 this year). Then upload your photos (so if you use film, you need to have it developed and scanned) and submission form, and if the “Coordinating Team” selects any of your photos, they will be displayed online.

We all have millions of photographs lying on our cds and hard drives which are a result of our experiments with light and life. After an initial glance, we really don?t look at those photos and they become a mere name in the extensive list of files in our computer. Yes, most people wonder what to do with those photos? These websites usually run bulk photos by category so better segregate your photos before posting them to the site. You can quote your own price for the pictures as you post them. These websites are great as the first step of earning money from you unique pictures.
Personal website
As you improve your skills and potentials as a photographer, you may want to consider putting up your personal photo website, instead of selling your bulk photos to some websites. You will save much by making the website yourself and not just hiring someone to do it for you. Through this, you will also have full control over your website and you will show your own uniqueness and competitiveness if you are the one who will design it.
Some more pointers on how to sell digital photos online:
* The photos that you are about to sell should be your own collection of photos shot by you and not copyrighted by somebody.
* The subject of your photos should come under those subjects that usually get the highest rank on the internet for easy and fast selling.
Make your way with these instructions and you will soon become successful in selling your digital photos online.
Buy DVDs For Less Than You Thought Possible
Americans love movies. One of our favorite pastimes is sitting at home, or in a darkened theater, and watching the latest blockbuster hit. Personally, I prefer watching movies at home. We have got a comfortable set up, I can watch whatever I want, whenever I want if my wife agrees. And best of all, there are no interruptions from inconsiderate fellow movie-goers.
But that extensive DVD collection is not cheap, so I have discovered a few ways to add to my collection without breaking the bank.
The easiest way to do this is to check out the clearance shelves at your local discount chain stores. They tend to get the lowest prices and want to move inventory. Often you can get movies for under $5. Granted, they will not be the latest releases, but you can round out your collections with classics at these low prices.
You can also buy used DVDs. There are used DVD stores popping up around the country. These stores are especially popular around colleges and universities. Not only can you buy DVDs here, but often you can sell any of your unwanted DVDs as well. The prices are very low and the selection is large.
DVD rental stores are also a great place to look movies. Often they promote themselves as never being out of stock for new releases. That means they buy many more copies of these movies than they will need to keep on hand once the initial rush for the movie is over. So, if you can wait a bit for that blockbuster you really want to see, you can often get it at a substantial discount a few weeks after it has been released on disk.
Online retailers also often offer DVDs at lower prices. Sometimes they will offer a combo-pack, two or three movies at a reduced rate. Often you will get a movie you have not heard of in the pack, but this is a great way to see movies you would not otherwise check out. There is usually a theme to the combo pack: same actor, same genre, same director.
Warehouse stores are another great source for discount DVDs. You can often get movies here for a few dollars less than you would pay retail, but the selection is often limited.
Finally, if you simply cannot wait to get the latest release on DVD, many stores offer discounts up front. You will have to go to their websites to see what they are offering. If you do a little digging, you can often get what you are looking for at a lower price.
Bull Riding Classics in Fremont, Nebraska
I have never seen a bull riding sport up close but am definitely eager to witness one at the forthcoming Fremont Bull Riding Classics in Nebraska. I have often see bull riding on the television and I can say that it always give me the chills to see these bull riders bodies literally being swayed by the bulls harsh and quick movements. Bull riding is considered extreme sport where only professionals and skilled riders are allowed to participate.
In bull riding, both the bull and the rider are given scores. The total of the two scores usually sum up the score for the whole competition. The participant with the highest score wins the event. Bulls are scored based on their agility, speed and bucking style. Bucking is what you call the galloping of the bull in its hind legs to throw off the rider.
As part of the rule in any bull riding competition, a rider should not touch himself, the rope, or the bull with his other hand. Free hand should remain free and should not touch anything, while the other hand grips the rope fastened on the bulls body. The rope is always coated with rosin, as well as the riders glove to prevent it from slipping. Apart from the gloves riders are expected to wear chaps as protective clothing for his legs and vest for his chest.
There had been heated arguments on the subject of bull riding and some animal welfare rights openly criticized the idea of it. They are against the use of hot shots or electric cattle prods which are used to ensure that bulls will run out once released from the chute. Supporters say that these are ultimately safe for the animals as the shots are mildly given and could in any way pose a grave threat to an animals health because they possess thick hides.
Now Im definitely going to see the bull riding competition in Fremont. I want to be entertained and amused at the riders and the bulls.

Fantastic Tips For Creating Collages!…
You can have fun expressing yourself, by making your own collage. As you can use what you like to create this, the freedom with this kind of art is endless.
You have many textures which can be of use to you for creating collages. As an example, take gold and silver paper, wool, felt, corrugated paper, wood, metal, newspaper and ribbon for starters.
It may be now, that you have to paint your background card, or whatever you may be using. Once it is dry, you can then sketch out your subject, then try different pieces out and find places to position them on your sketch, or backdrop.
Bear in mind that your whole picture does not have to have collage pieces on it. If you are using pieces of paper you will probably need to cut them, or tear them, to obtain the right colours and shapes. Actually, crepe paper is pretty good for collages.
You want your pieces to stay affixed, so one of the important issues here is, that you need the correct glues for the materials you are using. For example, for fabrics, you need a glue to handle this. If in doubt, read my article on adhesives which can be found at my website.
The collage I have described here is a pretty basic one, but really, if you want to take this a step further, you can use pastels, leather, metal, gravel, buttons etc. Most things can actually be affixed to a flat surface. The rule is really that you can use any items to support what you have in your mind visually.
Why not try doing a collage with plain old black and white newspaper? If you think this out well, you can achieve some quite startling results. If you think what is done by children in schools, they are quite inventive, using everything from bottle tops to silver paper for their projects.
At the present time a very popular form of collage is one that is done with photographs. These are often of friends, animals and family pets or family trees, to give you just a few ideas.
So, to do a collage, we have established that you need a base and these can differ enormously with the different weights of objects to be applied to it. Your background plays an important part too. It could be that you paste photos or magazine shots, or you may even have to paint it first, but you will need to sketch out the subject.
Now make your choices from your bits and pieces and remove all the unwanted pieces. The ones you are left with can sometimes appear to be a trifle odd ,but don’t let this phase you. They do not all have to be so that you have an even, level, surface.
Move them around your collage, placing them until you are satisfied with what you have. Then glue each piece very carefully and wait for it to dry. Once it has dried, you could put a coating of a sealant on it, just for protection purposes.
Now, it may be, that you want to frame it as a picture or have it raised on a mat. You could also do a wall hanging this way, the choice is endless.

How To Improve Your Landscape Paintings Through Glazing!…
When would you use glazing? Well, sometimes personally, I have found that I am not satisfied with the look of a painting as sections of it seem quite drab, with the colors not penetrating through. Then I resort to glazing.
This is a very disappointing result for the artist. Sometimes it can be because the artist has used too much turpentine as a medium, or may just be bad paintwork. Everybody has days where things do not go just as you intended. This is the challenge you face when you paint.
Most artists would consider this a crucial part of their work. It definitely seems to give your work a lift. The glazing part has so many uses as the majority of people have come to realize over the years.
So let us see how it can help you, the artist, particularly. I can only impress on you the importance this part of the process plays to your individual work. Amazing depths can actually be achieved, but it will also be handy to use on certain parts to great effect or simply to unify all your work.
How you use it depends, but it can add warmth to your work or on the other hand, make it look colder. What it amounts to really, is, laying a thin film of colour on top of another. This way the under-colour shines directly through. A bit like glass really.
However the first layer needs to be completely dry before you proceed, or you will have problems with intermingling shades. Obviously the colour you place on top has to be a transparent one.
You will have come to realize now that this is a very important step of your work. It can bring about the feeling of distance and space, but also adds strength and purpose to your work. I love using it as it seems to successfully bring my work to a happy conclusion.
At first you may find it hard to achieve great results. It is a learning curve through trial and tribulation. Basically what you will find is, what and where do I do this? Only by trying colours will you find out.
So suppose you just try putting a very deep purple over a pale yellow, this will give you an idea of the strength of color that can actually be obtained. Really it is best to just keep experimenting until you are happy with the finished result.
Do not, whatever you do, mix your color with a white when you are glazing. Keep it really pure. If you use oil as a medium you can rub this on really thinly. Just remember to keep it pure!
If you are looking for strong, vibrant effects, get out your palette. Try putting, for example, a very strong red on top of a much weaker shade and see what prevails. You can have so much to work with to great effect. Then you could round it off with a layer of gel. Some people just prefer this.
