PostHeaderIcon A Twenty-Four Year Old Bouncer at An Elite Bar and Grill Get First Class Training and Finds Out Why Alcohol Overdose Symptoms and Signs are So Indispensable and How They Can Save Another Person’s Life

Just a few days ago, Frank applied for a position as a bouncer at one of the local discotheques. He had studied judo, gatka, aikido, ninjitsu, and karate for six years; he was a body builder; he took daily minerals, vitamins, and supplements; he was into healthy eating and health foods; and he seemed well matched for such a job. In actual fact, since he was concerned about his health, he started drinking in moderation around two years ago and then totally quit drinking alcohol about six months ago.

When Frank received the word that he had been hand picked for the job, he was especially satisfied. Since this was a private disco, nonetheless, he had to go through a six week instructional class.

Individuals At Bars Who Drink In a Hazardous Manner and Alcohol Overdose Symptoms and Signs

On the first day of class, the instructor started talking about people who drink too much and what the bouncers, bartenders, and barmaids should do when this circumstance arises. When the teacher started talking about alcohol poisoning, Frank was pleased to learn that all of the new barmaids, bouncers, and bartenders were required to learn about alcohol poisoning and what they should do when they noticed a individual who was showing evidence of alcohol poisoning symptoms or displaying the signs of alcohol poisoning.

More specifically, all the new workers learned that vomiting and nausea were almost always the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was perchance the most highly identifiable alcohol poisoning sign or symptom. The teacher also made it a point to give emphasis to the fact that alcohol poisoning signs were messages from the body and from the brain that the person has ingested more alcohol than his or her body can metabolize.

There were, however, several other symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning that all the new barmaids, bouncers, and bartenders were trained to be conversant with. For example, the students in the class discovered that drinkers with alcohol poisoning exhibit confusion, often have seizures, exhibit poor reflex responses, and they are difficult to awaken.

Not only this but, the members in the class discovered that many people who have alcohol poisoning also exhibit slow, shallow or irregular breathing; little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching; blue tinged or pale skin; and slurred speech.

Moreover, people who have alcohol poisoning frequently pass out, display erratic behavior, they usually feel very ill and exhibit excessive vomiting, and they exhibit an inability to make eye contact or sustain a conversation.

A Trainer Explains Why Alcohol Poisoning is Not Necessarily Suffered Only by Individuals Who Are Alcohol Dependent

The trainer then explained that an alcohol overdose is not inevitably experienced only by alcohol addicted individuals.

More accurately, the lecturer informed the students in the class that most cases of alcohol poisoning were most likely experienced by alcohol abusers and that a special type of alcohol abuse called “binge drinking” was most likely the underlying precipitating factor in most circumstances involving alcohol poisoning. The instructor then defined binge drinking as follows: drinking five or more alcoholic beverages at one sitting for males and consuming four or more alcoholic drinks at one sitting for females.

To demonstrate the bearing that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the lecturer told the class members that an individual who gets inebriated once or twice on an annual basis, is by definition engaging in alcohol abuse, is most likely not alcohol addicted, but is more likely than not engaging in binge drinking. As stated by the teacher, engaging in binge drinking even once, regrettably, can result in alcohol poisoning that in some circumstances can be fatal.

The Trainer Explains Why Letting A Drinker With an Alcohol Overdose Sleep is Not The Best Course of Action

One of the members in the class raised her hand and asked the lecturer if it is a good idea to let a drinker with alcohol poisoning “sleep it off.” The lecturer emphasized the point that letting an individual with alcohol poisoning sleep is specifically what should not be done because doing so places the drinker at risk due to the fact that he or she is no longer being observed. In addition, letting the drinker sleep when she or he experiences alcohol poisoning is the wrong response because the person may never awaken.

The lecturer then told the members in the class that the best response for alcohol poisoning is the following: if it is suspected that a person has alcohol poisoning, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the individual is underage. By taking this plan of action, the drinker will get the prompt alcohol poisoning medical attention he or she requires.

Conclusion

After learning about alcohol poisoning and especially about the signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning, it may be noted, Frank realized that he had learned some essential information that might save a person’s life in the distant future. Without a doubt, Frank learned that knowledge of the familiar alcohol poisoning symptoms and signs and knowing how to quickly and appropriately respond to such signs and symptoms (by immediately calling 911 and asking for urgent medical assistance) can help a person avoid a fatal alcohol overdose.

PostHeaderIcon Using For-each Loops In XSLT

by Alan Spencer

Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) is a technology closely related to XML which is used to transform XML data. XML file are used to set out the ground-rules for a given body of data and to describe the data itself. XSL allows us to take the original XML data and convert it into information which can be displayed in a web browser window or opened with a text editor. XSL can also be used to create an XML file which is a modified version of an original XML file.

When displaying XML elements in a browser window, the XSL elements which enable looping through an XML tree and decision-making really come into their own. One of the key methods used in XSL for looping through elements in an XML file is the the “For-each” element. This requires the “select” attribute to specify which element is to be used in the loop. The “For-each” element normally requires both an opening and a closing tag and any lines of markup placed between the opening and closing tags will be repeated each time the element specified in the “select” attribute is encountered in the XML file.

For example, suppose we have an XML file containing a list of companies and the addresses of their websites. Suppose, as well, that the element which we will be targeting in the XSL “For-each” statement is called “company” and that, within each company element, we have a “name”, “telephone” and “website” element. Before starting our “For-each” loop, we could place the opening tag of an HTML “ul” element (an unordered or bulleted list).

Inside the “For-each” loop, we could then output an HTML “li” element and, between the opening and closing “li” tags, output the contents of the “name” and “telephone” elements from the XML file. The data in the “website” could then be used to convert the “name” into a clickable link.

As regards the appearance of the data in the resulting HTML output, this would be controlled by a linked CSS file. CSS can be used to format the output in any way we desire, so our bulleted list can take on pretty much any appearance we care to give it.

PostHeaderIcon Lose Cellulite Fast

by John Alvino

“Cellulite” is a frightening term to most women. It is the ugliest form of body fat which tends to appear on or around the upper thighs and buttocks area and is usually described as looking like cottage cheese.

Cellulite is extremely hard to get rid of once it begins to appear on your body and even more frustrating is that it’s hard to get rid of even with the most structured diet and exercise program. Once cellulite begins to appear it seems to deperately hang on making it difficult to achieve a smooth appearance on the butt and thigh areas.

Why is it that women seem to have problems with cellulite and men do not? Some experts have stated that estrogen can play a significant role in the development of cellulite although there are many theories on what causes the unsightly fat. Toxins in the body can be another cause of cellulite and simply stated carrying too much body fat in certain areas can also be a culprit.

I have recently interviewed an internationally respected plastic surgeon about the topic of cellulite. He has performed infinite liposuction surgeries on women who suffer from this type of fat so his opinion is helpful.

He stands firmly that the cause of the appearance of cellulite is from the connective tissue felxibility. Basically, he says, when your connective tissue flexibility is compacted that your fat cells can “bulge” to the skin’s surface creating that lovely cottage cheese look we all fear the most.

Since there is no consensus of opinion on this topic, it is clear that the true cause of cellulite is not fully understood by the scientific community. Perhaps one of the above theories is correct. Maybe its a combination of all of them. Personally, I am most comfortable attributing it to genetics.

Regardless of what the exact cause of cellulite formation may be, I have construced a fool-proof plan of attack against the much dreaded cosmetic nightmare! Here is my protocol in an easy to follow format:

1) Improve the integrity of your connective tissue. This is best done by eating foods that are rich in vitamin C and bioflavonoids. Some foods that are particularly good for this are: citrus fruits, peppers, all types of berries, cherries, grapefruits, oranges and green leafy vegetables.

2) Rid your body of excess toxins. The simplest way to achieve this is to increase your water intake; ideally consuming half of your bodyweight in ounces each day.

3) Minimize the amount of toxins going into your body. Being exposed to some level of environmental toxins are unavoidable. But there are many toxins that can easily be avoided. This list would include cigarette smoke (first or second hand), excessive alcohol consumption, unnecessary medications, etc.

4) Be aware of your estrogen levels. To do this, ensure you are consuming plenty of cruciferious veggies. What are cruiferious veggies you may ask? Try broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower–these contain something called I3C which is a substance proven to affect estrogen metobolism in a postive way-they can also help to remove toxins in the body.

5) Lose excess body fat the right way. Although cellulite has some unique characteristics, it is still body fat. So if you were to lose body fat correctly, you would minimize or completely lose that cottage cheese appearance.

Lets start by addressing your diet. You should use a diet that doesnt allow your insulin levels to get too high. High insulin levels prevent cellulite from being burned, thus making your fat loss efforts much more difficult. To keep insulin levels in the optimal range, you should eliminate sugar, red meat and processed foods from your diet. Now lets address the exercise protocol.

As you may know, “traditional” fat loss methods don’t rid you of cellulite. This unfortunate truth is evident by the numerous aerobics instructors I have come to know who teach classes all week and STILL have unsightly cellulite. Although aerobic workouts are good for you, they are not best for cellulite removal.

Instead, you should engage in high-intensity sprint training. Sprinting works the hamstrings (back of the legs) and glutes effectively while elevating your metabolism a great deal.

A powerful workout program should also include resistance exercises. If you are stimulating lean muscle you will be able to lose cellulite quickly. There are so great resistance exercises out there but some of my favorites are Single Leg Romanian Deadlifts, and Band Good Mornings.

Tired of seeing that pesky cellulite? Stick with my plan and I guarantee you will rid yourself of cellulite quickly and permanently!

PostHeaderIcon Text Alignment Options In Microsoft Excel 2007

by Carol Alexander

The alignment section of the Home Tab of the Excel ribbon contains a number of options relating to the way in which your data is position within the cell. Perhaps the most familiar and the most frequently used buttons in this section are the three relating to the horizontal position your data: left, centre and right. However you’ll notice that when you click in the cells of an unformatted worksheet, none of these three icons is highlighted, which indicates that none of them is the default. The reason for this is that Excel treats data differently depending on the data type.

If you type text in a cell, your text is aligned on the left; if you type a number, the number is aligned on the right; if you type a date, it is also aligned on the right. To set the horizontal alignment, you can either select a range of cells or click on a column letter to highlight the entire column then click on one of the alignment icons.

Haven chosen one type of horizontal alignment, you can change it in two ways. You can either choose a different alignment or you can click again on the already selected alignment to deactivate it. For example, if your text is right-aligned and you click on the Right-align button a second time, this will deactivate right alignment and return you to the default alignment which, for text, is left-aligned. So, in fact, Excel has four types of horizontal alignment: left, centre, right and unspecified (or default), which is the alignment that applies when none of the alignment buttons is highlighted.

Excel also allows you to specify vertical alignment. This setting normally only becomes apparent when you increase the height of the cell and this time there is a definite default which is that text is aligned at the bottom of the cell. This setting applies to text, dates and numbers alike.

To change vertical alignment, either make a selection or click on the row number to select the entire row then click on one of the buttons to make the change: align middle, align top and so forth.

The alignment option also includes the ability to change the orientation of text within the cell. This is particularly useful in those situations where the headings are wider than the data within the cells. To change the vertical orientation of your text, you simply select the cells in question and then choose the appropriate orientation in the Alignment dialogue.

Having changed the orientation of the headings, you can probably make the columns much narrower. Excel offers a very useful way of doing this: simply select all the columns that contain data then in the Cell group of the Home Tab of the Excel Ribbon, choose Format and then AutoFit Columns. This option makes each of the highlighted columns no wider than it needs to be to display all the data it contains.

PostHeaderIcon Creating Different Formats In The Same Cell In Microsoft Excel

by Carol Alexander

When changing the appearance of text within an Excel worksheet, you have the choice of working on the entire cell or at the text level. To work at the cell level you simply highlight one or more cells and choose your formats. The formats that you choose will then apply to all text within the cell or cells.

For example, if you wish to change the font size of your data in Microsoft Excel, you can use the drop-down menu next to the font name and choose one of the preset sizes. You can also use the Grow Fond and Shrink Font buttons located on the right of the font size. These two buttons simply cycle through the same preset sizes available on the preset size drop-down. You can also use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to move through different sizes. Yet another option is to enter a specific size then press the enter key. When doing so, you are permitted to enter decimals, such as 10.5.

In a similar way, when you want to choose a font, you can highlight the current name and start to type the name of font you have in mind, for example Times new Roman. Once you have typed enough to let Excel know which font you mean, the font name will be displayed and you simply press the Enter key.

Colour can be applied in the same two ways in your worksheets, either as a background to the cell or to the text inside the cell. Since background colour applies to the cell itself, it can’t be applied at the text level. With the introduction of Themes in Excel 2007, Microsoft have made it very easy to come up with colour combinations which look good together.

To work at the text level, you need to go into Edit mode. You can enter Edit mode in a couple of ways: the first is to double-click on any cell; the second is to click once on the cell and then click anywhere in the formula bar. You will know when you’re in Edit mode by the appearance of the Cancel and Enter buttons on the left of the formula bar.

When working in Edit mode, it becomes possible to highlight individual characters and change their attributes. For example, say a cell contains the text “Google”; you could highlight each letter individually and change it to the colour used in the Google logo.

The facility of having different formats within the same cell is very useful for headings. It is less useful for the rest of the data in your worksheets since it slows down data entry and makes editing difficult.

PostHeaderIcon Discover Which SAP Modules & Solutions For Your Business

by Joe Long

An ERP system is a real-time business support system that caters to the data needs of an entire company using a sole repository of informations (a database) and a really high-tech set of highly-customizable software modules which, together, ease decision-making and the actions based on these decisions. This invariably outcomes in extremely capable procedures and a resultant competitive reward. SAP, prepared by SAP AG, based in Walldorf, Germany, is one such copyrighted ERP system.

The SAP system is arranged into different sets of ‘solutions’ (essentially, modules) that address the info requires of special fields of any company’s processes. Set on top of these already-integrated personalized modules is the Cross-Application layer, components of which further learn that these various result ‘talk’ to each other in a cohesive fashion.

There is a saying, “If you fail to plan, you are actually planning to fail”. Hence, a right starting point for visualizing SAP is it’s Project System which deals each activity within the enterprise as part of several project. Placed on current orders (or perceived demand), this module is applied specify projects that will implement these orders and begin tracking them from then on. A typical project would take on a combination of several manufacturing actions as well as any referred procurement (raw materials as well as bought-out items). Going After every such project right from inception, through to its completion and beyond (post-project analysis) is capably managed by this module.

For project actions that concern to manufacturing, the Production Planning module treats the specifics of capacity planning, production scheduling down to the personalized tasks on the shop floor. This takes on handling data on the accessibility and deployment of human resources, machinery, tools and fixtures, consumables and energy requirements to name a few.

With streamlined production gets Plant Maintenance which treats preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance along with the associated down-time of tools and lost hours of the work-force as well as the time, material and labor involved for such maintenance.

The Materials Management module interfaces with Production Planning and Plant Maintenance to learn a) Timely delivery of stuffs and b) Cut down cost of inventory. Its range begins with material requisitions (based on Bills of Material emanating from production programs as well as for unplanned purchases) and leads them from placing orders to receipt of goods, their acquiring review (quality control), their being needed into stock and being subsequently supplied for production. This module also addresses finished-goods inventory.

The Costing module interfaces with each entity that has a cash value affiliated with it. It gets into consideration the several cost-centers and all the related prices : equipment, material, labor and services. The same makes true for the profit centers. This costing module has a provision for product-based costing (which could fail to manage certain prepared costs accurately ) as well as activity-based costing which is well-advised more scientific and supplies for cross-functional dealing of all the drivers of these costs.

The Sales and Distribution module tracks all transactions from inquiries, requests for proposals/ quotations and pricing to interfacing with the finished-goods inventory (in factory and warehouses) to picking, packing, shipping and delivery.

The Financial Accounting module logs financial transactions in the electronic equivalent of primary books of accounts, keeps the General Ledger and every last defined sub-ledgers, consolidates all this into the ultimate books of accounts (essentially, Profit & Loss account and the Balance Sheet), deals tax-related transactions/adjustments and interfaces with book closure. Accidentally, most of this is of a statutory nature and gets applied with the country-specific choices of SAP.

Asset Management is practiced for tracking assets from the time they are purchased, right through their lives with regard to their depreciation (and, hence their latest valuation) to the point they are either sold or written off.

The Quality Management module, along with the Project System, in reality overlaps all other functions and interfaces with every 1 of them throughout the lifetime of the company. Quality, they say is never by accident; it’s always by innovation. That is why this module is applied to facilitate all activities that construct quality into the company’s products/services (preventing defects/errors taking place in the 1st place). This is done by preparation (essentially, incorporating preventive steps in the enterprise’s work-flow), playing these quality plans and carrying periodic inspections to determine deviations, if several. Important to the company’s image and credibility in the outside universe, are activities that lead to the varied applicable certifications obtaining which is as well managed effectively by this module

This was a simplistic point of a very general application called SAP.

PostHeaderIcon Common Mistakes Made by Users of Microsoft Word

by Andrew Whiteman

Everybody knows Microsoft Word. It’s on almost every PC in the world and fair few Macs as well. However, a lot of users have picked up bad habits, things that detract from the usefulness of the document being created. This article looks at the most common basic errors among Microsoft users.

* When creating a document to be printed on a particular type of stationery, such as letter-headed paper, many Word users have the habit of using the Return key to create space at the start of the document. What they should be doing is changing the top margin. To change the margins in Word 2007, click on Margins then Custom Margins in the Page Layout tab on the ribbon. In previous versions of Word, choose Page Setup from the File menu.

* Leaving two spaces after the period which ends each sentence is another common error among users. In fact, one space is fine with modern typefaces since they are proportionally spaced (e.g., the letter “w” takes up more space than the letter “i”). The two space habit is a throwback to the days when people were using typewriters with monospace typefaces such as Elite and Courier.

* Do you habitually press the Return key two times to indicate the end of a paragraph? If so, you should consider pressing the Return key just once then using the paragraph spacing commands which can be found by clicking on the Page Layout tab of the ribbon in Word 2007 or by clicking on Format then Paragraph in Word 2003.

* Casual users who have never attended any Microsoft Word training courses are often at a loss as to how tabs work. At worst, they use the space bar to attempt to align elements on the page. This never works and when the document is printed the columns do not align properly. The Tab key should be used instead of the space bar.

* Although you can get away with pressing the Tab key to create columns of text without actually setting any tabs, it’s not usually a good idea. This method uses Word’s default tabs and means that the user often inserts a varying number of tabs between columns. It’s much better to set up your own tabs by clicking on the Word ruler. That way, you will only ever need to press the Tab key once between columns.

* Some Word users, even experienced ones, are so seduced by the Format Painter, that they rely on it to maintain consistency of formatting throughout a multi-page document. It is much better to use Microsoft Word’s styles to make your text formats consistent. With styles, at any time, you can go back and change the attributes associated with a style and your changes will update all text in that style.

* Word has a number of AutoCorrect options which can seem intrusive to new users and who complain about them without attempting to switch them off. To modify Word’s AutoCorrect and other settings, choose Options from the Tools menu (Word 2003/2002 etc.) or choose Word Options from the Office button in Word 2007.
